The International Wado Federation (IWF) is NOT a Business.
We operate as a World Alliance for Independent & Autonomous Wado Groups with an elected volunteer committee.

Fed up with the bickering politics of multi-style governing bodies?
Fed up with watching your membership fees constantly disappear into a black-hole?
Do you want to join an International Governing Body/Alliance that only has interests in Wado Karate & Practitioners?

At the International Wado Federation you can run your own affairs and still keep your money!

Promoting International Wado Karate Alliance of Harmony & Unity – World Wide.

Welcome to the International Wado Karate Federation.

The foundations of the International Wado Federation were created in 1982 and is the only ‘non-profit’ union for all established individual, autonomous, neutral and/or independent Wado Karate Clubs, Schools, Groups and Associations (irrespective of size) around the World.

The International Wado Federation is a World Governing Body & Alliance for traditional Wado, Wadoryu, Wadokai inspired karate organisations. Promoting Wado unity world-wide as an alliance of Wado associations and groups; irrespective of size and other multi-style national, international or world affiliationsWe do not expect you to leave any existing All-Styles World Governing Body to join the International Wado Federation, as our interests are only to encourage unity within all Wado.

The International Wado Federation is NOT a Limited Company or a commercially motivated governing body, so (unlike many other ‘governing bodies’) does not rely on ‘profit’ or membership fees to exist.

The International Wado Federation is not run by a chief instructor; as it is organised with common sense by a freely-elected committee of like-minded people, who offer their services free of charge.

So, if you are not already affiliated to a World or International Wado Governing Body, catering for autonomous or independent organisations, the International Wado Federation may be for you.

We do not take your money just for joining. Neither do we take your money just for being in membership.
You may not even need to leave an existing affiliation in order to join us!

Applications will be considered from all credible Wado organisations, groups and sources, with the aim of continual ‘Wado progression’.

For Information regarding Full or Associate Membership to the International Wado Federation please contact us for details and an Affiliation Application Form (or simply click-on the IWF image above).

“Style Before Politics!”

Avoid ‘all-styles generic sport-karate’ politics’ – “Follow Your Style!”

There is no place for ‘all-styles’ or ‘sport-karate’ politics in a single-style karate system, such as Wado karate, so therefore the International Wado Federation is not interested or involved with these types of affiliations. Why change the way we do our own Wado just to suit other karate styles and systems?

The International Wado Federation was formed from the foundations of the Alliance of International Wadoryu (AIWa), which was established in 1982. The International Wado Federation IS NOT an ‘All-Styles’ or ‘Sport-Orientated’ Karate Governing Body and we have no intention of being one or any part of one; so we are able to accept all Wado stylists from all over the world.

“Support not Authority!”

The International Wado Federation offers services, support, unity and an allegiance for all Wado practitioners – There is NO Chief Instructor running the affairs of the IWF, just a dedicated IWF Committee for support; there will also be no interference with the type of Wado Karate you practise.

Optional Services available and provided by the International Wado Federation, if required, include access to Fully Comprehensive IWF Licensing (UK only), Child Protection Office/r (UK only), CRB Resources (UK only), H&S Advice and Courses (UK only), Coaching Courses (UK only), Yudansha Registration, Grade Recognition and Progression Facilities for Association Chief Instructors, Traditional Wado Courses and Traditional Wado Competitions, plus much more.

The IWF is simply an umbrella for alliance-membership.

The International Wado Federation is the only World Governing Body for Wado that considers all legitimate Wado variant Groups and Federations into membership.”

International Wado Federation Associate Members are self-governing ‘autonomous’ members and will be considered ‘Allied Members’ to the IWF. The IWF will have no control over Associate Members as they will have their own Constitution/Rules & Regulations, Insurance Procedures and Member Protection Policies, etc., (including Child & Vulnerable Adults Protection Policy) for self-governance within their own Group/Association.

For further details please see Rules & Regulations.

For those who seek a more closer affiliation (Direct/Associate, etc.), please consider membership with our National or Continental Representatives.

K4-ALL
The International Wado Federation believes in a ‘Karate For All’ Policy. For example, one of the World Karate Governing Bodies ‘restrict & oppose’ unity.

All ‘open’ Wado competitions and events promoted on the International Wado Federation Website are OPEN to all Wado practitioners, inside or outside of the IWF; irrespective of National or International Affiliation/s.

Please DO NOT attempt to send in posters and information for ‘open’ competitions or events if they are restrictive, bias or ‘members only’, in nature; as they would not be considered or deemed truly ‘open’.

Alliance of International Wado-ryu (AIWa).

To preserve both the traditional development and the evolution of Wado Karate. We strive to accomplish this in an environment free of intimidation, religion, politics, and other negative distractions.

We further seek to foster a spirit of fellowship and understanding by welcoming all like-minded individuals, regardless of race, gender, ethnic background, national origin, or physical handicap.

All accepted member-groups will be granted ‘self-development’ and ‘self-governance’ status to encourage positive growth within their own autonomous infrastructure, without interference.

The International Wado Federation is a non-profit Governing Body for ‘professionally run’ (amateur and/or professional) Karate Schools and/or Organisations and not a commercially motivated or profit-based karate business.

“No catch, just freedom within Wado unity!”

Support your own style!

“Modern ‘all-styles’ karate competition tends to transform Wadō-ryū away from its roots and towards a new ‘generic’ karate that appeals more to the demands of both spectators and competitors.” Wikipedia.
